
Dr Abir Lal Mazumder is a researcher with a doctorate in Sociology from the South Asian University in New Delhi. He has previously held a guest faculty position in the University of Hyderabad where he attempted to collectively imagine a decolonized classroom with young budding anthropologists. His primary research interests and his doctoral thesis locate the social-cultural dimension of citizenship and diasporic experiences in the urban city. Further Dr. Mazumder is also a permanent member of INCAA and the IUAES-WAU Commission on Innovative Fieldwork Methodologies. His publications include a methodological paper on the use of combining ethnography and archival research published in the journal Studies in Indian Politics. Further he was also engaged as a research fellow in the Anthropological Survey of India to study the status of denotified and nomadic tribes listed in the Dada Idate led Commission Report Empowerment of the Government of India.
