TheDaak is very happy to announce TheDaak Academic where we publish academic book reviews exclusively. We publish The Academic every four months.
We are looking forward to engaging, informative, and critical discussions on academic books in this vertical.
We aim to publish interdisciplinary book reviews. We accept original contributions that have not been published or accepted to be published elsewhere. We do not necessarily review only recently published books.
Book reviews should ideally be 1200-1500 words. In case where the piece demands more, we are willing to make exceptions but as a matter of rule, we may ask you to revise your writing to fit the word limit.
The review should follow the Author-Date system of Chicago Style of Citations. The contributor should use in-text citations and reference list at the end of the review.
For further information please look at https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-2.html
**The contributor can consider the following while writing the review**
- The header of the review should be in the following format
Book: Title by author, place, publisher, year, pages, dimensions, ISBN, price
- An introduction to the author(s), and the intended audience for the book and who would find it useful;
- The key ideas and major objectives of the book;
- The soundness of methods and information sources used;
- An insight with the various chapters in the book. For edited books: dominant themes with reference to specific chapters as appropriate; and implications of the book for research, policy, practice, or theory can be highlighted.
- A comparison with other works on this subject;
- Informing the reader about what is happening in the research area the book addresses. For instance, does this book add, change, or break new ground in our knowledge of this subject?
- Constructive comments about the strength and weaknesses of the book;
- The review should not be just a mere summary of the book. There should be a clear distinction between the author’s voice and the reviewer’s voice in the review.
Receipt of submissions is acknowledged by e-mail within a week. However, the acknowledgment of receipt is not a guarantee of publication.
Each submission will go through a double-blind peer review process and the decision for the same would be communicated to the contributor.
Any edits and revisions to the contributions would be made/asked to be made with the prior consent of the contributor.
TheDaak has no objection to authors republishing or revising their articles for other publications. However, the re-published article must mention that the book review first appeared at TheDaak with the website link.
Elsewhere, no published article on TheDaak or part thereof should be reproduced by any third party in any form without prior permission of the author(s) at TheDaak.
Please send submissions to submission@thedaak.in. Each submission should clearly state, TheDaak Academic Submission‘ in the subject line of the email.
For any queries or suggestions on books, please write to us at editor@thedaak.in
